My family and I began discussing beef prices, practices, and how it was impacting our families and our lives. Having always loved agriculture, we began to look at ways to make a difference, there will always be a need for supermarket meat, large feedlots, but returning to our grandparents ways of raising a calf to feed our families appeal
My family and I began discussing beef prices, practices, and how it was impacting our families and our lives. Having always loved agriculture, we began to look at ways to make a difference, there will always be a need for supermarket meat, large feedlots, but returning to our grandparents ways of raising a calf to feed our families appealed to us. We found our neighbors and friends also were returning to this mindset, so we began finishing beef for them, and have been doing so for about 20 years. About 4 years ago we began looking at expanding this to others on these practices and through hard work and perseverance, Steak on the Hoof was born. We only harvest what we sell and we maintain a small herd to support our customers. We believe in the farm to table movement, and believe it is the right practice for our family and yours. We don’t have a brick and mortar store to keep overhead cost down. Our goal is not to be a huge wholesaler but to provide good genetics, healthy ranching techniques, and a quality piece of beef.
